Presenter

Nerryl Kingston has over 30 years' experience in the Traffic Management Centre, traffic signals and airport electrical assets. That experience is hands-on, involving traffic centre operations, freeway management systems, traffic signal contract management, traffic signal maintenance and repairs, airport electrical assets airside and landside and Electrical Trade qualifications. Whilst performing the crucial duties TMC officers perform daily, Nerryl also specialises in training the newer officers to the team and continues mentoring them well into their careers, passing on the wealth of knowledge he has accumulated in his time with Victoria's Department of Transport.

Your questions answered by our panellist

Do the systems we have seen here plug directly to your website or is that a separate process?

In Victoria, do you use SCATS for intersections and STREAMS for motorways, or is there some overlap between the two systems?

Do TCO's use the STREAMS interface for SCATS trims?

After you modify a SCATS stretch or split, does the signal eventually return to its "normal" cycle?

Do you jump between keyboards for each of the monitors you have?

What do you use TomTom and Google maps for?

In responding congestion to the third party - TomTom, Google map, etc how does this work?

How big is the TMC team?

How do you contact with the IRS, and how do they know where they have to go?

Do you broadcast incidents on any local Melbourne radio stations?

Does DoT handle any engineering except emergencies? Is all non-emergency work subcontracted?
