The election of ITS Australia’s Board of Directors took place yesterday, coinciding with the association’s Annual General Meeting held online. This year’s election resulted in a recomposed board, with one new entrant. There was significant and continued interest in the directorships, with 14 candidates nominated for the seven vacancies.

ITS Australia congratulates the elected board members:

  • Mr Scott Fennelly, Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA)
  • Dr Adriana-Simona Mihaita, University of Technology Sydney
  • Mr Jeremy Nassau, Transurban
  • Mr Jason Owusu, Department of Transport and Planning
  • Professor Majid Sarvi, The University of Melbourne
  • Ms Silje Troseth, Q-Free Australia Pty Ltd

They will join continuing directors:

  • Mr Richard Delplace, Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries
  • Mr Fred Kalt, Yunex Traffic
  • Mr Andrew Paynter, Transmax
  • Mr Dennis Walsh, Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland
  • Mr Dean Zabrieszach, HMI Technologies

ITS Australia President Silje Troseth acknowledged the results that followed a competitive election process.

“Once again, our members were highly engaged in the board election with more than half of ITS Australia eligible members casting a vote this year. This consistent strong interest in the governance of the association ensures we are represented by a committed group of directors, aligned in supporting ITS Australia to deliver on our mission.”

“I welcome our newly elected members and congratulate those re-elected for 2025. I look forward to working collaboratively with my fellow directors in supporting the ITS Australia team to deliver on the priorities outlined in the recently published Strategic Plan 2024 to 2027,” said Ms Troseth.

Ms Troseth also recognised the contribution of outgoing board members; Professor Fang Chen, University of Technology Sydney, Michael Cybulski, Retina Visions and Graham Lawrence, Amazon Web Services (AWS). She also acknowledged the contribution of directors who resigned during the year due to changes in circumstance; Mr Lewis Clark, Transport for NSW, Ms Rita Excell, Amazon Web Services and Ms Catherine Rooney, Department of Transport and Planning Victoria.

Following the Annual General Meeting, Silje Troseth was re-appointed as President, with Jeremy Nassau from Transurban and Dennis Walsh from the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads re-elected as co-vice presidents.

ITS Australia CEO Susan Harris also recognised the election results.

“Once again, the ITS Australia Board will be represented by an impressive mix of leaders from government, industry and academia. I know our directors will work diligently to ensure the ongoing smooth operation of the association and to bring fresh ideas that demonstrate our sectors commitment to innovation and collaboration.”

“I also congratulate our newest director, Dr Adriana-Simona Mihaita from the University of Technology on her election to the board. With ITS Australia increasing our focus on evidence-informed policy and advocacy, we are delighted to welcome Dr Mihaita who will undoubtedly contribute deeply to this strategic priority for the organisation,” said Ms Harris.
