The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is making it easier for Queenslanders to catch public transport by enabling Mobility as a Service (MaaS). MaaS embodies a shift away from privately owned cars towards mobility solutions that are used as a service. It is a combination of public and private transportation services accessed via an application which provides personalised journey planning, booking and payment.
The Queensland Mobility as a Service (MaaS) Foundational Research Program, a revolutionary endeavour reshaping Australia's transport technology landscape. Anchored in real-world impact, the program's ODIN PASS trial has already facilitated over 1 million public transport trips, boasting a remarkable 16-36% usage surge. However, the impact goes beyond numbers. Engaging 70 diverse organisations in the MaaS Industry co-design project, we're forging a sustainable MaaS ecosystem that shapes Queensland's transportation future.
Sustainability is at our core, evident in the program's expansion trajectory. With over 7,000 users and more than 30,000 mobility bundles sold through ODIN PASS, the immediate impact is clear. The programs reach extends to universities, testing mobility scenarios and payment options, while also exploring global implications like the impact on vehicle fleets.
What truly differentiates the program is the innovation-driven ethos. The real-world research and customer-centric approach, we're not simply envisioning the future; we're architecting it. Our collaboration with academia, industry, and local councils paints a holistic picture, ensuring sustained development and lasting influence.
This isn't a distant vision; it's unfolding before our eyes. Through ongoing trials, from Townsville to E-Mobility ventures, the MaaS Foundational Research Program is scripting a new narrative in transport innovation. Swift in its impact, palpable in its results, the future is unfolding in the present. Queensland is spearheading MaaS deployment, and we invite you to join us in this transformative revolution.
