At this year's Melbourne Networking event you will hear from a range of speakers from government and industry:
- Professor Majid Sarvi - Director of AIMES at the University of Melbourne. AIMES (Australian Integrated Multimodal EcoSystem) is a world-first integrated transport and technology project, running in real-time from the streets of inner-city Melbourne. It has one goal: to link all transport infrastructure and users in cities together to deliver safer, cleaner and more sustainable urban transport. Across a six-square kilometre segment of inner-city Melbourne, AIMES has brought together more than 50 local and global partners and government bodies to establish the world’s first, and largest, transport ecosystem in a real-world environment.
- Trent Robinson - Senior Manager Signal Services at the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning (DTP). DTP brings together key transport, planning, land, precinct and policy functions within a single department to create thriving places and connected communities. Together with key agencies, DTP are responsible for planning, building, operating, and maintaining Victoria’s transport and planning system for use by all.
- Dino Beverakis - Vice President and General Manager APAC - Cubic Transportation Systems. Cubic are the leading integrator of payment and information solutions and related services for intelligent travel applications in the transportation industry. Theye deliver integrated systems for transportation and traffic management, providing tools for travellers to choose the smartest and easiest way to travel and pay for their journeys while enabling transportation authorities and agencies to manage demand across the entire transportation network – all in real-time.

Speakers

Dino Beverakis
Vice-President and General Manager, APAC / Cubic
Dino Beverakis, the Vice President & General Manager for the APAC region, joined the senior leadership team in February 2024. In this role, he oversees teams based in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
Dino brings a wealth of experience to the organisation. His background includes leading professional service companies, where he has consistently delivered operational excellence, built strong customer relationships, and driven growth. His passion lies in coaching and motivating teams, fostering a culture of ownership and high performance.
Before joining the team, Dino held several leadership roles. Most recently, he was associated with Avaya, where he served as Managing Director for the ANZ region. During his tenure at Avaya, Dino led a team of Sales and tech specialists who provided consulting, design, and implementation services for communication channels to various professional services customers focused on customer experience. Prior to that, he contributed his expertise to companies such as SINGTEL/OPTUS, Hitachi, and HP. Dino is based in Sydney, where the regional APAC headquarters are located.


Trent Robinson
Senior Manager Signal Services / Department of Transport and Planning Victoria
Trent Robinson is a Senior Manager at the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning, where he leads Signal Services. In this role, Trent oversees the design and optimisation of the traffic signal network in Victoria, including for local roads, arterial roads and motorways.
With over 20 years in the area, Trent has developed extensive experience and connections, both nationally and internationally. This has enabled him to implement sustainable and integrated transport strategies with impressive results, which are often referred to by other jurisdictions.
Trent’s passion lies in seeing the transformation of transport by embracing data and technology, including strong engagement with academia and industry. Driven by a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, Trent continues to lead initiatives that push the boundaries to deliver safe and efficient journeys for the community.


Professor Majid Sarvi
Director, AIMES / The University of Melbourne
Professor Sarvi is the chair in transport engineering and the director of Transport Technology program at the University of Melbourne. He is the founder and director of the Australian Integrated Multimodal EcoSystem (AIMES). AIMES is a world first; a grid mapped with smart sensors to test emerging, multimodal connected large-scale transport technologies in a complex urban environment.
Through AIMES, Professor Sarvi is bringing the transport network together, collaborating with more than 50 domestic and international partners from industry and government. AIMES’ key objective is to deliver safer, more efficient and sustainable transport solutions for all road users to enable smarter cities to thrive.
Professor Sarvi has more than 25 years of professional, academic and research experience in the areas of intelligent transport systems. His research is multidisciplinary with an international outlook applying theory to combat real-world challenges. His expertise covers a range of topics, including: Artificial Intelligence in Transport, connected and automated multimodal transport systems and CITS.
He has been the author/co-author of over 350 refereed publications in top transportation journals and various conference and symposia proceedings. He currently serves on the editorial board of several journals including Transportation Research Part B, Transportation Research Part C, and Transportmetrica.


Susan Harris
Chief Executive Officer
As Chief Executive of ITS Australia, and with an extensive career in transport strategy, Susan is ideally placed at the intersection of technology and transport. Supported by strong connections to the international ITS community and the global network of ITS Associations, Susan works tirelessly advocating for the benefits of transport technologies for business and for the broader Australian community.
Susan is highly regarded for her roles supporting the growth and innovation of the nation’s transport technology industries. She works across a number of industry advisory groups and is a regular advisor to the State and Federal Governments, and their Ministers, on transport technology and mobility issues.
