Transport is Australia's third-largest source of greenhouse emissions, accounting for 17% of total emissions. In the UK, that number is closer to 25%. Over the next few years, the work of our industry to create better transport choices will have a major impact on our carbon footprint.
We can make our cities cleaner by implementing innovative and digital solutions for public transport, cycling, walking and other forms of clean mobility.
A massive transformation is already underway. Many international cities are implementing simpler, safer, healthier and cheaper solutions to fossil-burning vehicles, such as sharing electric vehicles, bicycles and e-bikes, green buses and trains, and even laying hundreds of kilometres of new cycling lanes.

Director (Intelligent Transport System Technologies) / Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads
Noel Peters is the Director (Intelligent Transport System Technologies) in the Infrastructure and Management Division of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. Noel, an electrical engineer, leads a team of dedicated engineers and technologists that provide expertise in dynamic road safety infrastructure devices, including traffic signals, intelligent transport systems and road lighting. The team develops departmental specifications for the procurement and use of products that contribute to safer road use and reduced impacts on the environment. Team members undertake evaluations of innovative products and work with standards groups in developing national standards.
Shiva Raman
Principal Electrical Engineer / Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads
As an experienced Electrical Engineer within the Power and Utilities industries, Shiva possesses a strong focus on engineering support and project delivery strategy. This practical exposure, coupled with strong skills in estimation and resource scheduling, involving strategic and tactical planning has provided him with a wealth of experience in this field. Shiva's extensive technical knowledge of Power Distribution & Transmission practices, has lead him to consistently apply these skills in Staging plan development, project execution and managing projects to a high standard, to enable projects being delivered on time and within budget.
