Roads, Tolling & Tech 2026 to Spotlight Smart Roads and Sustainable Funding

Sydney, 20 February, 2026 - Electric vehicle acceleration; declining fuel excise; sustainable, tech-enabled, road user alternatives.

These topics and many others will take centre stage at Roads, Tolling & Tech 2026, hosted by ITS Australia and sponsored by Transurban at the Swissotel in Sydney on 25–26 March 2026. Bringing together leaders from government, industry and academia, the conference will focus on Smart Roads, Smart Data and the interconnected technologies transforming road operations.

The 2026 program explores road user charging reform, tolling-as-a-service models, connected vehicle-enabled pricing, and the evolution of light infrastructure tolling. Sessions will also highlight advances in AI-driven analytics, digital twins, real-time motorway operations, EV charging innovation, battery energy storage systems, and enterprise architecture for tolling environments.

Camilla Drover, Deputy Secretary Infrastructure Projects and Engineering at Transport for NSW, will lead as Keynote Speaker, with highly regarded industry experts including Founding Director of the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies at University of Sydney, ProfessorDavid Hensher AM; Director Legislative Reform and National Policy at Transport for NSW, Bianca Slack-Smith; Former Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities & the Arts, Honourable Paul Fletcher; Head of Solutions and Architecture at North East Link State Tolling Corporation, Amrit Singh and many more. The conference will also examine connected and automated vehicle developments, autonomous bus trials, emergency vehicle pre-emption technology, underground GNSS for tunnel safety, and Australia’s role in national and international ITS standardisation.
