The ITS
Australia NextGens are thrilled to partner with platinum member Main Roads Western Australia
for the inaugural episode of our Outback ITS Webinar Series!
These
bite-sized presentations will put the spotlight on an application of
Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in regional and remote areas across the
nation, highlighting the unique challenges and innovations required to deliver
these solutions.
Main
Roads, in conjunction with Telstra and Australian technology company Attentis,
has recently deployed a remote real-time floodway monitoring system. This is an
initiative identified under the WA’s ITS Master Plan within the Regional
Resilience area of focus. The system provides 24-hour unmanned monitoring of
floodway conditions at each location and instant notification (email and SMS)
when flooding is occurring in real-time, allowing Main Roads staff to access
the cameras remotely to verify live conditions and help make incident
management decisions regarding road access and communications.
The webinar will include a live demo of the Floodway
Monitoring System, showcasing how it supports remote asset monitoring, assists
in early warning, promotes remote operational efficiencies and improves staff,
road and public safety.
This is
a great opportunity for all transport professionals to hear about a new and
exciting ITS project that is up and running in rural Western Australia.
