17th ITS Australia Awards
The ITS Australia Awards are the industry’s most prestigious, celebrating excellence, innovation and leadership across the Intelligent Transport Systems sector.
For more than a decade, the Awards have recognised the growing influence of ITS in-shaping Australia’s transport future. This includes advancements across connected, electric and automated vehicles, smart transport infrastructure, intelligent mobility solutions, transport data, and research and development.
Individuals and organisations are invited to submit nominations aligned to the award category descriptors, showcasing contributions that deliver real-world outcomes and support safer, smarter and more sustainable transport systems. Categories also recognise individual excellence, including emerging leaders, outstanding women in ITS, and lifetime achievement.
This is an opportunity to showcase your work, demonstrate impact, and gain national recognition within Australia’s ITS community.

Young Professional Award
This award continues to recognise and encourage the passion and positive contribution an individual has made and is likely to make to the Australian transport technology industry as demonstrated through their early professional life. This award provides sponsorship for the recipient to attend the ITS Australia Summit - Australia's leading transport and technology event, and is open to members only.
Woman of the Year Award
ITS Australia proudly presents the ‘Woman of the Year Award,’ designed to recognise an exceptional woman who has significantly contributed to the advancement of the ITS industry in Australia. The introduction of this award complements the prestigious Max Lay Lifetime Achievement Award and reflects that women have historically and continue to be underrepresented in the ITS industry, meaning it will take some time before we can fully celebrate diversity through the Max Lay Lifetime Achievement Award.
In establishing this new award, ITS Australia aims to celebrate and elevate the increasing impact of women in our sector, ensuring their remarkable achievements receive the visibility they rightfully deserve.
Max Lay Lifetime Achievement Award
Recognises an individual who personifies achievement of the ultimate standard for a leader in the ITS field and in the organisations they have led. The award recognises that they are a champion of the vision of ITS and its fulfilment within the community.
The award is named in honour of Dr Maxwell Lay (AM). In 2005, Max was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service to engineering, particularly through leadership in the delivery of quality road infrastructure and the development of new contract management processes, and as an educator and historian. Max is an Australian pioneer and ITS researcher, engineer, project implementer and passionate advocate for the advancement of ITS.
