ITS Australia Coronavirus Update: A message from the CEO

Susan Harris

/>

Like all of you in the industry, we at ITS Australia have been closely monitoring the escalation of the coronavirus situation. We are keenly aware of the significant impacts being felt by both individuals and organisations across the industry. Given the exceptional circumstances, I wanted to take this opportunity to speak directly to our members, stakeholders, and international colleagues about how ITS Australia will operate over the next few months.

The priority of ITS Australia is the health and safety of our industry, and all those who work within it. ITS Australia serves the industry by holding numerous events throughout the year. Given the current circumstances, and the Australian Government restrictions on travel and large gatherings, it is clear that we cannot continue to do this.

ITS Australia will suspend its face-to-face events program up until 31 May 2020. The ITS Asia Pacific Forum planned for 25-28 May in Brisbane is postponed. The Forum has been designed to be an exceptional event, bringing together transport technology professionals from across the APAC region. We strongly believe in the ITS Asia Pacific Forum and in the opportunities that it will present for the industry here in Australia and throughout the region. We are committed to holding the event and to making it as successful and valuable as originally conceived. We are currently working to secure a new date before mid-2021.

In addition, we have cancelled our upcoming Business Events in Canberra, on 26 March, and Sydney, on 21 April. ITS Australia’s workshops will continue, but will be migrated to digital platforms.

In the immediate future ITS Australia is working to ensure that we can continue to serve the industry with digital activities, accessible remotely, that will provide our members with access to important information and insights about our industry. Please lookout for more information about those activities soon.

Finally, I know that many of you in the industry are currently working to ensure that the nation’s transport networks continue to operate effectively through these exceptional circumstances. As we all navigate our way through this situation, ITS Australia will work to keep you connected and will strive to raise our sights toward future technologies and opportunities.

Please feel free to get in touch with me, or our team, any time.
