ITS Australia, as a participant in the iMOVE CRC, has undertaken to contribute $300,000 over a 10-year period work to develop and participate in projects that enable our industry to shape future transport.
As members, ITS Australia will consider projects to deliver on these goals and working with our members and the broader sector to identify research and related projects supporting a substantive step to reduce congestion, improve outcomes for communities and enable future transport opportunities.
Projects ITS Australia undertakes will reflect our broad-based membership and remit to promote the development and deployment of advanced technologies to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable transport across all public and private modes: air, sea, road, and rail.
While a substantial and real investment for ITS Australia, our contribution is relatively small in comparison to the other the iMOVE partners, this is an opportunity to focus on short to medium-term projects with immediate outcomes that offer a general benefit to a broad stakeholder group.
Research projects where ITS Australia will lead projects will:
- Be in-line with our strategic objectives and key focus areas
- Generally be delivered within a 12-month timeframe to communicate new information to industry in the research area the project focuses on
- Provide relevant and timely insights for Australia and opportunities to reinforce ITS Australia’s role as a leading industry association
- Ideally brings together a broad stakeholder group working of a project that is relevant nationally
- Allow ITS Australia to leverage our role as a member-based organisation that is independent and impartial.
- We bring unique value to the project
- The project aligns with our strategic plan
- Can be accommodated with existing resources.
- Projects ideally have outcomes and outputs that are available in the short-to-medium timeframe
- Address an issue or enable a solution benefiting a broad stakeholder group
ITS Australia is a unique partner in the iMOVE CRC as the only not-for-profit member-based industry organization and as such have a role to play in developing and partnering on projects that provide immediate support to challenges and uncertainties facing industry. This is particularly the case in areas where there is a need for national consensus and harmonisation and challenging stakeholder groups.
