ITS Australia’s Board of Directors is made up of elected individuals, each representing one of our member organisations.
Our Directors hold office for a period of two years. Elections for directors’ positions are held annually in November at our Annual General Meeting.

Silje Troeth was elected President of the ITS Australia Board of Directors in November 2023.
Silje has been working in the ITS industry for 15 years both with the private sector and the public sector within project management, project delivery, sales and marketing. Silje has been with Q-Free Australia since 2004 and has held various positions within the company in Norway, Australia and the Asia Pacific region, most recently as General Manager and Senior Vice President for AMPEA (Asia Pacific Middle East and Africa).
Silje has been a director of ITS Australia since 2018, and in addition to serving as President, Silje also serves as Chair of the Marketing & Communications Committee, and sits on the Membership Committee. Silje holds a Bachelor degree from the University of Western Sydney and a Master’s degree from the University of Technology Sydney.

Jeremy was elected as Co-Vice President of the ITS Australia Board in November 2023.
Jeremy Nassau is Head of Future Transport and Partnerships at Transurban, where he has worked for 19 years in a range of roles at the intersection of strategy, technology, smart infrastructure and innovation. For the last 6 years Jeremy has been leading Transurban’s automated vehicle activities, safely delivering a wide range of trials across various jurisdictions and CAV use cases, together with key government and industry partners.
He is currently leading a group in Transurban’s Strategic Innovation function, exploring and establishing innovative new transport businesses.

Dennis is Co-Vice President of the ITS Australia Board.
Dennis is Chief Engineer of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. He oversees a range of technologies including Geospatial Technologies, Road Design and Hydraulics; Pavement, Materials and Geotechnical Engineering; Structures; and Safer Roads Infrastructure.
A Chartered Professional Engineer, member of Engineers Australia and graduate of Australian Institute of company directors
Has worked across areas including strategic planning, traffic and transport planning, road safety policy and engineering, road design, road operations and Intelligent Transport Systems. He has contributed to a range of national groups and is Queensland Director on the ANCAP Board. Board member and Vice President of ITS Australia. Has recently been appointed as a Board member and Interim Chair of Transmax and Queensland's board Austroads board member. He is also on the interim board of CCAT. He is a member of Institute of Public Works Engineers Australia.
Dennis is committed to bringing together skills and knowledge of his team and their partners to embrace new technologies, engage with customers and drive new ideas into action for benefit of the community.
Adele Beachley Executive Director, SCATS / Transport for NSW Executive Director, SCATS / Transport for NSW
Adele Beachley is the Executive Director of Sydney Co-ordinated Adaptive Traffic Systems (SCATS) in the Customer Strategy and Technology Division. With a strong background in technology and business development, Adele has decades of experience across global organizations in various industries. She specialises in deploying technology, RFID, mobility, and analytics in transport and logistics. Recently, Adele has ventured into innovation, creating products and applications centered on computer vision and machine learning for frontline workers' smartphones.
Apart from her professional role, Adele is a dedicated volunteer board advisor for a grassroots non-profit organization that utilizes technology and innovation for humanitarian causes. Fluent in five languages, she has a personal interest in beekeeping, wellness, and brain health. Adele, with her commercial expertise, took on the role of leading the SCATS business at Transport for NSW in January 2022, driving its strategic agenda forward.

Richard is the Director Emerging Technologies at the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, the peak representative body for the manufacturers and importers of passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles and motorcycles in Australia.
He is responsible for the coordination of the FCAI members and the development of the FCAI’s approach and policy response to new and future technologies in vehicle safety, autonomy, and environmental performance.
Richard is also a Director on the Boards of ITS Australia, the Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority (AASRA), and the Mining and Automotive Skills Alliance (AUSMASA).

A Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport (CMILT). I was a founding member of ITS Ireland and served as Executive Board Member for 3 years. I was instrumental in the preparation of Dubai RTA’s bid for the ITS World Congress and implemented the first government ITS Graduate program in Australia.
I have a strong track record of partnership with others, including my experience building company expertise and leading teams in both the private and government sector. I have a strong pragmatic focus, and care deeply about ITS. If successful in nomination, and as a WA representative on the board, I will ensure that there is an increase in collaboration with in areas such as standardisation, technology adoption, members requirements, contributors to conferences etc.. from WA.
Lachlan Gray Senior Principal ITS Engineer / WSP Senior Principal ITS Engineer / WSP
Lachlan currently leads WSP’s National ITS team and has close to 20 years of experience across major infrastructure projects, network operations, design, planning, policy and maintenance. He has a passion for developing and delivering practical ITS projects that deliver safety and operational benefits to the community.
An experienced electrical engineer Lachlan has worked on projects across Australia and the Middle East and has held a range of government and private sector roles. Lachlan has worked closely with the Department of Main Roads network operations teams for many years to develop a strong understanding of the full ITS lifecycle from concept through to operations and maintenance.
Lachlan oversees WSP’s portfolio of ITS projects, which spans a broad range of technologies and systems that include Connected and Automated Vehicles, smart motorways, digital transport systems, ITS advisory, smart mobility and major infrastructure design. This involves a cross section of clients and stakeholders across Australia at all stages of the project cycle.
Lachlan is a Chartered Professional Engineer, a registered engineer in QLD and Victoria and Fellow with the Institute of Engineers Australia.

Graham Lawrence is an accomplished technology executive with over 20 years of experience supporting innovation and delivering exceptional value to public sector and commercial organisations nationally and internationally. Currently serving as a Principal Account Executive at Amazon Web Services (AWS) he specialises in helping government agencies achieve transformative outcomes through cloud technology solutions.
Prior to AWS, Graham has held roles with ServiceNow, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Microsoft, with expertise spaning cloud computing, information technology and business systems.
Earlier in his career, Graham served as the Director of Information and Business Systems (CIO) for the Northern Territory Department of Planning and Infrastructure. In this senior role, he provided strategic direction, oversaw major IT initiatives, managed vendor relationships, and represented the department's interests on inter-agency committees.

Ada has a 19-year career in the automotive and electronics industry and has led diverse teams across the globe. Her expertise includes Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Cooperative and Automated Vehicles, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing technology.
Currently, Ada leads the Cooperative and Automated Vehicles (CAV) team at Toyota/Lexus Australia, which collaborates with governments, industry, and academia as a research partner; liaises with Toyota Japan and global affiliates; and reviews industry and technology trends, providing insights to policymakers. Under her leadership, the team has spearheaded several award-winning Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) and Automated Vehicle (AV) programs.

Dr Mihaita is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Technology in Sydney, founder and leader of the Future Mobility Lab.
She is an industry-focused academic delivering value for people living in smart cities via her strong engagement with the government and several industry partners. Her research focus is to improve people's movement via artificial intelligence in a smart city context.
She is the winner of the 2022 Women in AI Awards – Infrastructure category, a triple finalist in the 2021 IoT Awards – Smart Cities, 2021 ITS Australia for Transport Data Excellence and for R&D Excellence, the winner of the 2018 ITS Australia National Awards for Research Excellence, nominated Transport for NSW Expert panel member, finalist in Smart City Awards 2019, awarded Monash Business School Scholarship for Women in Leadership 2018, nominated for the 2019 Prime Minister's Science Awards, and interviewed by Channel 7 News and The Guardian.

Jason Owusu is the Chief, Data & Digital at the Department of Transport and Planning. He is responsible for the end-to-end planning, delivery, operations and management of the department’s data, analytics, spatial and digital solutions and services for transport, planning and land use.
Jason was previously in the role of Executive Director Data Transformation and before that was the Director of Data Management in the Department of Transport. He is passionate about the intersection of data, AI and machine learning and the potential application of these emerging technologies. His experience focuses on leading through change, increasing operational efficiencies and driving positive outcomes for customers and communities. Prior to his executive career in the public sector, Jason held a variety of senior management roles in the utilities, energy and FMCG sectors.

Professor Sarvi is the chair in transport engineering and the director of Transport Technology program at the University of Melbourne. He is the founder and director of the Australian Integrated Multimodal EcoSystem (AIMES). AIMES is a world first; a grid mapped with smart sensors to test emerging, multimodal connected large-scale transport technologies in a complex urban environment.
Through AIMES, Professor Sarvi is bringing the transport network together, collaborating with more than 50 domestic and international partners from industry and government. AIMES’ key objective is to deliver safer, more efficient and sustainable transport solutions for all road users to enable smarter cities to thrive.
Professor Sarvi has more than 25 years of professional, academic and research experience in the areas of intelligent transport systems. His research is multidisciplinary with an international outlook applying theory to combat real-world challenges. His expertise covers a range of topics, including: Artificial Intelligence in Transport, connected and automated multimodal transport systems and CITS.
He has been the author/co-author of over 350 refereed publications in top transportation journals and various conference and symposia proceedings. He currently serves on the editorial board of several journals including Transportation Research Part B, Transportation Research Part C, and Transportmetrica.

Jessica is a Solution Consultant for traffic and ITS technology at Kapsch working across the Asia Pacific region. She is currently focused on working with stakeholders and product teams to collaboratively design tailored solutions for smart cities, which include advanced traffic management systems and the deployment of connected vehicle technology.
Jessica has a Master of Engineering (Civil with Business) and Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne, where she worked concurrently as a research assistant in the Transport Technologies Group. Jessica also has a background in transport engineering, modelling, and planning and is experienced in developing strategy and advice for the integration of future vehicle technologies (e.g. connected and automated vehicles) and digital transport systems with transport infrastructure.

Dean was appointed to his current position at HMI Technologies in Australia in March 2015. Prior to joining HMI Technologies, he worked with VicRoads, the state road authority of Victoria, from 1984 to 2015, in a number of senior positions including Manager Program Development, Manager Maintenance Program, Manager Intelligent Transport Systems, Director Road User Services and Director Road Operations.

Stacey has a strong policy development and legislative background and managed engagement and building strong relationships with external stakeholders across all levels of government, NGOs, clients, collaborators, and the media; fostering partnerships that collaboratively work to solve problems we collectively face.

Yara Zozulia is an administration and finance professional with 20 years' experience supporting leading global organisations.
Born in Ukraine, Yara studied economics at the Uman Agricultural Academy. She worked for the majority of her career in Ukraine, then immigrated to Australia in 2016 and has recently become an Australian citizen.
