ITS Australia’s Board of Directors is made up of elected individuals, each representing one of our member organisations.
Our Directors hold office for a period of two years. Elections for directors’ positions are held annually in November at our Annual General Meeting.

Silje Troeth was elected President of the ITS Australia Board of Directors in November 2023.
Silje has been working in the ITS industry for 15 years both with the private sector and the public sector within project management, project delivery, sales and marketing. Silje has been with Q-Free Australia since 2004 and has held various positions within the company in Norway, Australia and the Asia Pacific region, most recently as General Manager and Senior Vice President for AMPEA (Asia Pacific Middle East and Africa).
Silje has been a director of ITS Australia since 2018, and in addition to serving as President, Silje also serves as Chair of the Marketing & Communications Committee, and sits on the Membership Committee. Silje holds a Bachelor degree from the University of Western Sydney and a Master’s degree from the University of Technology Sydney.

Jeremy was elected as Co-Vice President of the ITS Australia Board in November 2023.
Jeremy Nassau is Head of Future Transport and Partnerships at Transurban, where he has worked for 19 years in a range of roles at the intersection of strategy, technology, smart infrastructure and innovation. For the last 6 years Jeremy has been leading Transurban’s automated vehicle activities, safely delivering a wide range of trials across various jurisdictions and CAV use cases, together with key government and industry partners.
He is currently leading a group in Transurban’s Strategic Innovation function, exploring and establishing innovative new transport businesses.

Dennis is Co-Vice President of the ITS Australia Board.
Dennis is Chief Engineer of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. He oversees a range of technologies including Geospatial Technologies, Road Design and Hydraulics; Pavement, Materials and Geotechnical Engineering; Structures; and Safer Roads Infrastructure.
A Chartered Professional Engineer, member of Engineers Australia and graduate of Australian Institute of company directors
Has worked across areas including strategic planning, traffic and transport planning, road safety policy and engineering, road design, road operations and Intelligent Transport Systems. He has contributed to a range of national groups and is Queensland Director on the ANCAP Board. Board member and Vice President of ITS Australia. Has recently been appointed as a Board member and Interim Chair of Transmax and Queensland's board Austroads board member. He is also on the interim board of CCAT. He is a member of Institute of Public Works Engineers Australia.
Dennis is committed to bringing together skills and knowledge of his team and their partners to embrace new technologies, engage with customers and drive new ideas into action for benefit of the community.
Adele Beachley Executive Director, SCATS / Transport for NSW Executive Director, SCATS / Transport for NSW
Adele Beachley is the Executive Director of Sydney Co-ordinated Adaptive Traffic Systems (SCATS) in the Customer Strategy and Technology Division. With a strong background in technology and business development, Adele has decades of experience across global organizations in various industries. She specialises in deploying technology, RFID, mobility, and analytics in transport and logistics. Recently, Adele has ventured into innovation, creating products and applications centered on computer vision and machine learning for frontline workers' smartphones.
Apart from her professional role, Adele is a dedicated volunteer board advisor for a grassroots non-profit organization that utilizes technology and innovation for humanitarian causes. Fluent in five languages, she has a personal interest in beekeeping, wellness, and brain health. Adele, with her commercial expertise, took on the role of leading the SCATS business at Transport for NSW in January 2022, driving its strategic agenda forward.

Scott has over 25 years’ experience across network operation, transport data and technology. His passion is helping governments and network managers effectively operationalise strategy and policy, to share knowledge, mentor and develop our industry.
Scott was based in the UK for 10 years, where he worked on UK and EU Euro-regional ITS projects. These projects included network management and pricing: shifting the dial on operational efficiency. Since moving back to Australia, Scott has worked and delivered projects across Australia with state and federal governments including driving transformation through C-ITS. He has been closely involved with development of AIMES and is part of the AIMES executive.
Scott co-leads global initiatives driving change in future mobility and drive to zero carbon for WSP. Scott is a chartered engineer and a fellow, past board member and State President of the AITPM.

Distinguished Professor Fang Chen is an award-winning and internationally recognised leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data science. She is passionate for innovative data-driven solutions to industry problems, particularly real-life complex problems in large-scale networks - such as transport, water, energy and agriculture. She is also actively involved in promoting ethical, human-centered AI.
Fang leads multidisciplinary teams of experts who have won major national scientific and industry awards. These include the Intelligent Transport Systems Australia National Award 2014, 2015 and 2018, the NSW iAwards 2017, the VIC iAwards 2019 and 2020, and the National Award and NSW “Research and Innovation Award” 2018 from the Australian Water Association.
Fang is the winner of the "Oscar" of Australian science – the Australian Museum Eureka Prize 2018 for Excellence in Data Science. She is the Australian Water Association’s “Water Professional of the Year”, awarded in 2016. She is the 2021 winner of the Australia and New Zealand “Women in AI” Award in Infrastructure, and the NSW Premier’s Prize of Science and Engineering.
Fang is a member of the inaugural NSW Government AI Advisory Committee, and serves on the expert panel of the Singapore National Science Foundation. She has 350 publications and 30 patents in 8 countries. She is the Executive Director of Data Science at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and the Executive Director of the UTS Data Science Institute.

Michael founded Retina Visions in 2016 and has since established a strong presence within the transport industry. Trained in civil engineering with a history in the road construction and transport industries, Michael has worked on underground cable projects, road surface condition assessments, business development of asset management systems and big data analytics. Michael has worked with both private industry and the public sector, providing enhancements to businesses to improve efficiencies in how they manage and utilise their data. Michael was awarded the ITS Australia Young Professional of the Year award in 2018.
Segolene Deeley Director - Corporate Affairs / Keolis Downer Director - Corporate Affairs / Keolis Downer
Segolene is a strategic customer and stakeholder specialist with 20 years’ experience leading public relations, stakeholder engagement, communications, innovation and account management in international business environments. Her career has spanned Europe, the UK and the US, and she joined Keolis Downer in 2017. Segolene has been with Keolis since 2011, and previously worked in the software and IT sector for 10 years.
Segolene oversees Keolis Downer’s market positioning in Australia, supporting existing operations and driving strategic engagement with key stakeholders ahead of key bids. She also leads innovation projects that improve integrated transport journeys and create more liveable cities.
Her experience working on projects around the world has given her a deep understanding of the diversity of mobility challenges and the importance of having a local and collaborative approach to deliver social and economic outcomes.

Richard is the Director Emerging Technologies at the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, the peak representative body for the manufacturers and importers of passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles and motorcycles in Australia.
He is responsible for the coordination of the FCAI members and the development of the FCAI’s approach and policy response to new and future technologies in vehicle safety, autonomy, and environmental performance.
Richard is also a Director on the Boards of ITS Australia, the Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority (AASRA), and the Mining and Automotive Skills Alliance (AUSMASA).

20 years+ experience in Civil & ITS Projects in Europe, the Middle East and Australasia. Currently servicing as Director of Realtime and ITS Operations with MRWA.
A Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport (CMILT). I was a founding member of ITS Ireland and served as Executive Board Member for 3 years. I was instrumental in the preparation of Dubai RTA’s bid for the ITS World Congress and implemented the first government ITS Graduate program in Australia.
I have a strong track record of partnership with others, including my experience building company expertise and leading teams in both the private and government sector. I have a strong pragmatic focus, and care deeply about ITS. If successful in nomination, and as a WA representative on the board, I will ensure that there is an increase in collaboration with in areas such as standardisation, technology adoption, members requirements, contributors to conferences etc.. from WA.
Fred Kalt Managing Director / Yunex Traffic Managing Director / Yunex Traffic
Fred Kalt is the Managing Director of Yunex Traffic, and is responsible for the Asia Pacific ITS business.
Fred has held several senior management positions at Siemens, with multi-year assignments e.g. in Germany, China, USA, Singapore or now in Australia. He has been committed to the ITS industry since he took over Siemens' Intelligent Transport unit in Beijing for Northeast Asia in 2005.
He has already contributed his experience as a Council Member (Board of Directors) of the Intelligent Transport Society Singapore (ITSS), including the Chair of the ITSS Special Interest Group - Business.
Fred studied Information Technology and Electrical Engineering in Germany and has a passion for ITS-related innovations that drive the mobility industry in business and technology.
Specifically, he is dedicated to the digitalisation of ITS because it makes road networks and fleets safer and smarter, to the benefit of people and the environment.

Graham Lawrence is an accomplished technology executive with over 20 years of experience supporting innovation and delivering exceptional value to public sector and commercial organisations nationally and internationally. Currently serving as a Principal Account Executive at Amazon Web Services (AWS) he specialises in helping government agencies achieve transformative outcomes through cloud technology solutions.
Prior to AWS, Graham has held roles with ServiceNow, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Microsoft, with expertise spaning cloud computing, information technology and business systems.
Earlier in his career, Graham served as the Director of Information and Business Systems (CIO) for the Northern Territory Department of Planning and Infrastructure. In this senior role, he provided strategic direction, oversaw major IT initiatives, managed vendor relationships, and represented the department's interests on inter-agency committees.

Jason Owusu is the Chief, Data & Digital at the Department of Transport and Planning. He is responsible for the end-to-end planning, delivery, operations and management of the department’s data, analytics, spatial and digital solutions and services for transport, planning and land use.
Jason was previously in the role of Executive Director Data Transformation and before that was the Director of Data Management in the Department of Transport. He is passionate about the intersection of data, AI and machine learning and the potential application of these emerging technologies. His experience focuses on leading through change, increasing operational efficiencies and driving positive outcomes for customers and communities. Prior to his executive career in the public sector, Jason held a variety of senior management roles in the utilities, energy and FMCG sectors.

As Chief Technology Officer at Transmax, Andrew develops and guides the company’s product strategy, roadmap and portfolio management, and technical architecture and implementation. Andrew joined the company in 2019 as a recognised technical and product leader having built world-class product and SaaS delivery teams at start-ups, scaleups and leading global tech companies. Professor Sarvi is the chair in transport engineering and the director of Transport Technology program at the University of Melbourne. He is the founder and director of the Australian Integrated Multimodal EcoSystem (AIMES). AIMES is a world first; a grid mapped with smart sensors to test emerging, multimodal connected large-scale transport technologies in a complex urban environment.
Through AIMES, Professor Sarvi is bringing the transport network together, collaborating with more than 50 domestic and international partners from industry and government. AIMES’ key objective is to deliver safer, more efficient and sustainable transport solutions for all road users to enable smarter cities to thrive.
Professor Sarvi has more than 25 years of professional, academic and research experience in the areas of intelligent transport systems. His research is multidisciplinary with an international outlook applying theory to combat real-world challenges. His expertise covers a range of topics, including: Artificial Intelligence in Transport, connected and automated multimodal transport systems and CITS.
He has been the author/co-author of over 350 refereed publications in top transportation journals and various conference and symposia proceedings. He currently serves on the editorial board of several journals including Transportation Research Part B, Transportation Research Part C, and Transportmetrica.

Dean was appointed to his current position at HMI Technologies in Australia in March 2015. Prior to joining HMI Technologies, he worked with VicRoads, the state road authority of Victoria, from 1984 to 2015, in a number of senior positions including Manager Program Development, Manager Maintenance Program, Manager Intelligent Transport Systems, Director Road User Services and Director Road Operations.

Susan is highly regarded for her roles supporting the growth and innovation of the nation’s transport technology industries. She works across a number of industry advisory groups and is a regular advisor to the State and Federal Governments, and their Ministers, on transport technology and mobility issues.

In government, she worked in highly regulated environments including transport, planning, liquor and gaming, and emergency services. Stacey has a strong policy development and legislative background and managed engagement and building strong relationships with external stakeholders across all levels of government, NGOs, clients, collaborators, and the media; fostering partnerships that collaboratively work to solve problems we collectively face.

Born in Ukraine, Yara studied economics at the Uman Agricultural Academy. She worked for the majority of her career in Ukraine, then immigrated to Australia in 2016 and has recently become an Australian citizen.
