This month, the NextGens will be visiting the Victorian Department of Transport's Incident Response Service Depot to watch the set up and operations of the depot.

You’ll get the chance to speak to staff and hear about the issues and challenges they face in their roles.

This is a free, in-person event, participants will be required to return a negative RAT test prior to entering the depot (RATs are provided on site). Please ensure you wear closed shoes for the site visit.

You must register to participate in this site visit. Registration is complimentary.

About the venue

Victorian Department of Transport Incident Response Service Depot

VicRoads Incident Response Service (IRS) patrols Melbourne’s transport network, clearing incidents and helping maintain traffic flow.

IRS responds to on-road incidents that affect the flow of traffic. This includes crashes, vehicle breakdowns and debris on the road.

IRS assist police and emergency services with safe and timely management of incidents, including setting up signage and managing traffic flow around the scene. Once the emergency services have left the scene the IRS assist with clearing debris and re-opening lanes to get traffic moving again as quickly as possible.
