ITS Australia National Awards


The ITS Australia National Awards are a celebration of excellence in the Australian Intelligent Transport Systems industry and are hosted annually by ITS Australia.

For more than 10 years, the ITS Australia National Awards have been recognising and celebrating the growing influence of ITS across transport technology, with each year seeing a growth in the number of nominations being received which is testament to the increased strength and profile of the Intelligent Transport Systems industry in Australia . . . reinforcing Australian ITS capability and position as a world leader in transport technology development and deployment.

Who should apply
  • Is Outstanding: If your organisation has produced outstanding or innovative work or research.
  • Is Australian: If this has been developed or deployed in Australia.
  • Is Recent: Has been delivered over the past couple of years.

  • Smart Transport Infrastructure Award - NEW
    Recognises an organisation for their technology innovation delivering excellence in transport infrastructure and network management.
  • Intelligent Mobility Award - NEW
    Recognises an organisation or project that delivers innovative transport solutions offering outstanding mobility services for people and their communities.
  • Excellence in Transport Data Award - NEW
    Awarded to an organisation to recognise their outstanding contribution in the use of transport data delivering outstanding outcomes for the community.
  • Excellence in Research and Development Award - NEW
    Acknowledges and congratulates R&D activity undertaken solely or in collaborative research programs that recognises an organisation for their ground breaking transport technology, research, development or innovation. This award is proudly sponsored by iMOVE Australia.
  • Connected and Automated Vehicle Award
    Awarded to an organisation that has made outstanding contributions towards the deployment of connected and automated vehicles in Australia.
  • Young Professional Award
    This award continues to recognise and encourage the passion and positive contribution an individual has made and is likely to make to the Australian transport technology industry as demonstrated through their early professional life. This award also provides Certificates of Achievement to a number of runner-ups.
  • Max Lay Lifetime Achievement Award
    Recognises an individual who personifies achievement of the ultimate standard for a leader in the ITS field and in the organisations they have led. The award recognises that they are a champion of vision of ITS and its fulfilment within the community. The award is named in honour of Dr Maxwell Lay (AM), an Australian pioneer and ITS researcher, engineer, project implementer and passionate advocate for advancement of ITS. This award is considered by the ITS Australia Board of Directors - submission for this particular award is invited by email to:
